The residency runs about twelve months: roughly twelve weeks of paid clinical immersion—most of it bedside with an RN Clinical Partner—plus simulation and problem-based learning, then you stay on the unit that hired you. Specialty paths have included Med/Surg/Telemetry, Operating Room, Critical Care, Birthing Center, Psychiatric Services, and Surgical Services when the hospital has need. If you already have your footing, the floor is union-represented by the Windham Federation of Professional Nurses (AFT Local 5041). The 2022 four-year agreement removed mandatory overtime language so extra shifts are voluntary, cut insurance premiums, and sat alongside offers that included a multi-year wage path, premium relief, and expanded preceptor pay. Day-to-day texture shows up in postings like full-time 36-hour Med Surg Tele nights—twelve-hour shifts, every other weekend, rotating holidays—and residents are expected to work any shift. You will also see ordinary supports listed for RNs: health, dental, and vision; 401K with match; PTO; tuition assistance; free on-site parking; and a DAISY Award program. Labor history is part of the picture here—nurses struck in 2022 before ratifying that contract, and an NLRB case alleging bargaining issues remains open—so you should weigh the written protections against that recent friction when you decide.
