Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room

About this role

Requirements

• Active, valid, and unrestricted RN license issued by at least one U. S. state, territory, or commonwealth
• Associate degree, nursing diploma, or bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution
• Successful completion of the NCLEX-RN
• At least two years of current hospital-based operating room nursing experience
• Current Basic Life Support certification
• ACLS certification if required by the client
• Demonstrated current competency in perioperative nursing
• Effective English communication skills
• Computer literacy and proficiency with electronic clinical documentation
• U. S. citizenship or lawful permanent resident/Green Card status
• Preferred Qualification: Current CNOR certification
• Preferred Qualification: Primary Responsibilities
• Preferred Qualification: Assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate perioperative nursing care
• Preferred Qualification: Prepare the operating room, equipment, supplies, and documentation for scheduled procedures
• Preferred Qualification: Perform circulating nurse responsibilities in accordance with facility policies and professional standards
• Preferred Qualification: Confirm patient identity, consent, surgical site, allergies, and procedural readiness
• Preferred Qualification: Participate in surgical safety checks, including time-outs and instrument, sponge, and sharps counts
• Preferred Qualification: Maintain sterile technique and promptly address breaks in the sterile field
• Preferred Qualification: Position and protect patients safely throughout surgical procedures
• Preferred Qualification: Administer medications and treatments as ordered and within the RN’s authorized scope of practice
• Preferred Qualification: Monitor patient condition and respond promptly to clinical changes or emergencies
• Preferred Qualification: Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, nurses, and other members of the perioperative team
• Preferred Qualification: Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation
• Preferred Qualification: Follow NIH infection-control, patient-safety, and professional practice requirements
• Preferred Qualification: Respond within the required timeframe when assigned to on-call coverage
• Preferred Qualification: Participate in required orientation, training, and competency activities
• Selected candidates must satisfy NIH credentialing, health, immunization, security, fingerprinting, background-investigation, and facility-access requirements. All licenses, certifications, competencies, and health documentation must remain current throughout the assignment.
