The Registered Nurse will play a pivotal role in facilitating a safe and seamless progression of patients throughout the surgical journey, from pre-operative preparation to the operating room and post-operative recovery. Key responsibilities include assessing patients before surgery, preparing them for procedures, collaborating with the surgical team to develop individualized care plans, and providing comprehensive assistance to surgeons and the surgical team during procedures. Throughout recovery, the Registered Nurse will closely monitor patients, administer post-operative treatments, and provide emotional support.

Attention to detail, effective communication, and maintaining patient confidentiality are essential. This role is crucial in ensuring the well-being and comfort of patients throughout their surgical experience.

Position Type: Full-Time (Benefits Eligible) or Part-Time (Non-Benefit Eligible)

*Essential Job Functions*

  • Communicates appropriately with peers, management and physicians, patients, and patient’s family members.
  • Adheres to surgical policies and procedures, and monitoring of the environment as described in the policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates competence in assessing and admitting patients pre-operatively.
  • Efficient in chart preparation, documentation, and computer skills necessary to retrieve patient information.
  • Skilled in recovery of patients from regional, local, IV conscious sedation, spinal, and general anesthesia for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and elderly patients.
  • Exhibits proficiency in facilitating patient discharge procedures.
  • Displays capability in the accurate preparation and administration of medications.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in educating patients and their support system about pre-operative and post-operative instructions.
  • Responsible for periodic review of policies pertinent to the position.

  • Must be a licensed registered nurse with two years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Has obtained or will obtain within 6 months of employment CPR and ACLS certification.
