Job Summary
The Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for managing, delegating, coordinating and providing nursing care through utilization of the nursing process. The above is accomplished with the utilization of effective communication skills with patients, significant others and members of the multidisciplinary health care team.
Within the scope of practice assumes responsibility, as necessary, for the assessment, treatment and care of patients of all ages (neonate to geriatric).
Displays an understanding of the developmental needs of the patient when planning and implementing treatment.
Displays competency in obtaining information and interpreting the patient's behavior based upon an understanding of the patients cognitive, biopsychosocial and religious cultural aging processes.
The Registered Nurse is accountable for maintaining his/her clinical competence in reaching the defined standards of care for the area of nursing practice.

- Systematically provides nursing care to patients within the framework of the nursing process and established standards of practice.
- Integrates principles of patient safety in the provision of direct nursing care and medication management.

- Participates in designated forums which address patient care, patient education, policy and procedures, safety and clinical outcomes.
- Demonstrates accountability for maintaining and improving professional knowledge and skill related to the area of practice.
- Document on addendum age specific competency.

Qualifications
- Associate Degree Required and
- Bachelor Degree Preferred
- 1-3 years Minimum of 1 years' recent experience in area applying for Required
- National Certification in area of practice preferred.
On Call required for the following areas: OR, PACU, and Cath Lab

- Registered Nurse New York - New York State Board of Nursing Required
- BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association Required
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support - American Heart Association Required for the following areas: ED, SICU, MICU, 3 Doctors, Cath Lab, Endo, Labor & Delivery, Nursing Radiology, and SDS within 6 months of hire/transfer; PACU (within 3 months of hire/transfer)
- NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Program - American Heart Association Required for the following areas: ED, Nursing Radiology, and SDS (within 6 months of hire/transfer); PACU (within 3 months of hire/transfer
ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certificate Chemotherapy Biotherapy Fundamentals of Administration - Oncology Nursing Society Required for Infusion Center Required
