Registered Nurse (RN) Job Information Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Department: Nursing Reports To: Director of Nursing Supervises: LPN/LVN, MHTs, CNAs, and Medication Technicians FLSA Status: Non-Exempt LOF Support: LOF 4 Skill Checkoff Appraisals See attached. Mentoring Checklist Form Licensed. Position Summary Assumes leadership responsibility for the day-to-day coordination of patient care activities for the unit while maintaining standards of professional nursing practice in accordance with The Joint Commission (TJC), federal regulations, and state regulations. Provides direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse (RN) license. Assumes the role of Charge Nurse as assigned, providing oversight to ancillary staff during scheduled shifts. Provides direct oversight to nursing staff in the absence of the Director of Nursing and communicates with the Director of Nursing regarding relevant patient care issues. Participates in Performance Improvement activities through completion of assigned chart monitoring. Coordinates nursing care for patients within the scope of practice and in compliance with facility policies, procedures, and standards. Communicates with medical staff regarding identified patient issues. Performs patient care assessments accurately and in a timely manner. Addresses patient care needs promptly and documents findings thoroughly in the medical record. Completes all admission paperwork and ensures all admission and daily documentation is complete, signed, and dated according to facility protocol. Adheres to Human Resources policies regarding attendance and professional conduct. Follows Infection Control and Employee Health guidelines to ensure the safety of patients and staff. Actively collaborates with the Service Development Department to facilitate timely admissions. Maintains knowledge of admission criteria and accurately documents admission justification for new admissions. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and communicates identified patient goals, interventions, and assessments. Working Conditions Work environment characteristics are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this position, the employee may occasionally be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level may range from moderate to high. The environment may include cleaning chemicals, dust, mist, and steam generated during housekeeping activities. This is a smoke-free workplace. Work requires spending approximately 75% or more of the time indoors in a building that provides protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Employees must provide documentation of a tuberculosis (TB) test during new-hire orientation and annually thereafter. Physical Requirements Must be able to stand for extended periods, up to 60–80% of a work shift. Must be able to sit for extended periods, up to 4 hours at a time. Walking and standing are regularly required to perform job duties. Lifting and carrying may exceed 10 pounds. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, And Experience Education Minimum Associate Degree in Nursing required. License Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice. Experience One (1) year of RN experience preferred. Previous healthcare experience preferred.
