Registered Nurse

Job Summary Responsible for the interpretation, direction and evaluation of nursing practice to ensure safe, efficient, and therapeutically effective nursing care throughout the facility. Responsibilities Planning · Supports and implements the nursing philosophy and objectives consistent with the stated goals of the facility · Supports and implements the policies and procedures essential to the achievement of the philosophy and objectives of the facility · Is compliant with regulatory standards and assures documentation of patient care to meet criteria dictated by legal practice, state and federal health standards · Participates in Risk Management activities · Schedules procedures at the OBL and hospitals · Participates in ongoing Quality Improvement · Facilitates an organized clinical office setting for efficient patient flow. · Reviews patient ultrasound results with the physician to determine patient plan of care and calls patient with results and plan of care · Maintains ongoing patient communication by returning patient calls and addressing concerns and issues · Addresses patient concerns and complaints and works toward resolution. · Reduces chances of nosocomial infection by adhering to infection control guidelines and environmental safety practices · Ensures that existing clinica/nursing policies and procedures are practiced. · Adheres to OSHA and other Federal and States standards · Schedules stress tests, labs test, CT exams and ultrasounds as needed for patient care. · Schedules follow up ultrasounds and office visits as needed. · Calls patients postoperatively on a weekly basis to follow up post procedure. · Signs dictation as required. · Finalizes office visits/patient summary sheets in Medstream in a timely manner to meet requirement deadlines. · Completes FMLA/short term disability paperwork as requested by patients. · Obtains signatures for Home Health orders and faxes paperwork in a timely manner. · Documents patient phone calls and communication in Medstream to promote continuum of patient care. Clinical Practice · Is expected to have general nursing knowledge of all surgical procedures performed at the Center. · Participates with the clinical staff and Physicians in promoting good outcomes in patient care activities via the quality improvement programs · Is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment in which the patient’s psychological, physiological and physical needs are identified, anticipated and met Research · Identifies and supports opportunities for research in the patient care area · Cooperates in research projects conducted by other health care disciplines Other Duties and Responsibilities: · Interacts effectively and professionally with providers, staff, patients and partner organizations · Participate to carry out decisions that represent the vision and core values of VIC · Interacts effectively and professionally with providers, staff, patients and partner organizations
