American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring telemetry skills, cardiac drip titration, and 12-hour night shifts. Hospital setting on a 56-bed Progressive Care Unit. Patient population includes CHF, ARF, hepatitis, ESLD, DM, DKA, pneumonia, sepsis, GI bleed, syncope, chest pain, pulmonary emboli, respiratory failure, COPD, arrhythmias, seizure disorders, overdose, and delirium tremens. RN to patient ratio of 1:4 on PCU/Tele. 12-hour night shift schedule with weekend rotation. 36 hours per week. Charting via Epic with Alaris and Omnicell equipment. Floating may occur to Med Surg, Ortho/Neuro/Surgical, Heart and Vascular, Oncology, ICU, or Observation units.

Requirements

  • Active RN license (Standard or Compact) through the South Dakota Board of Nursing
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of PCU or Telemetry RN experience required
  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program
  • Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV starts, blood product administration, CIWA protocol, drain/tube management, indwelling and straight catheter insertion/management, and chest tube maintenance
  • Experience with cardiac and vasoactive drip titration (Heparin, Insulin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Levophed) preferred
  • Experience with insulin drip management for both DKA and non-DKA patients
  • Experience with continuous bladder irrigation
