Role Description This full-time, on-site Registered Nurse role is based at an Ochsner Health facility in New Orleans, LA. The Registered Nurse provides patient-centered care by performing comprehensive assessments, developing nursing care plans, administering medications and treatments, and monitoring patient responses. Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary teams, coordinating patient education on diagnoses, medications, and follow-up care, and documenting all care accurately in the electronic health record. The nurse supports safe clinical operations by following evidence-based protocols, infection prevention practices, and regulatory requirements, while advocating for patients and their families. The role also involves participating in quality improvement initiatives, mentoring team members, and contributing to a culture of safety, respect, and continuous learning. Qualifications Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Louisiana (or eligibility for licensure), and completion of an accredited nursing program (Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred). Clinical skills in patient assessment, care planning, medication administration, and monitoring of vital signs, with strong attention to patient safety and infection control. Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary care teams, and to coordinate transitions of care and discharge planning. Strong written and verbal communication skills for patient and family education, documentation, and handoffs, with the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately. Proficiency with electronic health records and basic digital tools used in modern clinical environments, with willingness to learn new systems and technologies. Demonstrated ability to prioritize, multitask, and remain calm in fast-paced or high-acuity settings, including critical thinking and sound clinical judgment. Commitment to equitable, inclusive, and trauma-informed care for diverse populations, respecting individual backgrounds, identities, and needs.
