Schedule Full Time: 80 Hours/Bi-Weekly Hours: Monday - Friday one week 8-Hours Shifts 6:45am - 5:15pm and second week (4) 10-Hour Shifts 6:45am - 7:15pm Candidates must be able to work all weekdays, as shift schedules can change weekly No Weekends, Holidays, or Call Required Department Summary WellSpan Interventional Pain Management, a service of York Hospital: Offers interventional pain management by dedicated staff, registered nurses, nurse practitioners, anesthesiologists, and interventional physiatrists. Services are provided Monday through Friday and on weekends by appointment only, located at 228 St. Charles Way, Suite 100. General Summary Assesses patients, performs treatments, administers medications and instructs patients and their families in appropriate care. Meets established Standards of Nursing Practice in the management of assigned patients. Acts within the guidelines of federal and state laws, JCAHO standards and professional and ethical practice. WellSpan York Hospital Built on a solid 140-year legacy of providing high-quality, high-volume, community-based care, WellSpan York Hospital, the largest of WellSpan’s eight hospitals, is a 596-bed acute care community teaching hospital that employs nearly 5,000 people, making WellSpan the largest employer in York County. WellSpan York Hospital was one of several WellSpan Health hospitals honored by U. S. News & World Report with the High Performing recognition for 2022-23. The hospital offers services and programs that feature highly skilled clinical staff, life-saving technology and state-of-the-art facilities to address some of the most complex medical, surgical and behavioral health conditions. WellSpan York Hospital’s Regional Resource/Level 1 Trauma Center has been accredited by the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation and is the only accredited trauma center in York, Adams and Franklin counties. It is a nationally recognized teaching hospital with nine residency programs, six allied health schools and other training programs. More than 700 physicians and other professionals are members of WellSpan York Hospital’s medical and dental staff. WellSpan York Hospital in embarking on a significant five-year project. The centerpiece will be a new, eight-story surgical and critical care tower, which will dramatically expand the hospital’s intensive care unit as well as develop new state of-the-art surgical suites, making it one of the top 10 largest hospitals in Pennsylvania with approximately 600 beds. Duties and Responsibilities Essential Functions: Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with peers as necessary and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care. Writes initial nursing histories, assesses patients' conditions and assists with the development of individual care plans for patients. Prepares patients for scheduled procedures. Gives basic triage information to patients and families per provider guidelines and instruction. Assists physicians with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care. Ensures accuracy of recording on patient medical records. Provides health care instruction/education to patient, family members or designated caregiver. Assists attending physicians and aids patients and families as needed in times of stress or crisis. Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures, ensures proper functioning of equipment and restocks supplies. Variation of duties may result based on the assigned customer care unit(s). This may include differences in the specific clinical skills required of the RN. Unit based skill lists outline expectations beyond the house wide RN requirements. SYS-NURS-L Nursing Education Requirements Policy outlines current certification(s) required for specific areas of nursing practice and is considered to be part of the job description. In addition to requirements specified in the license and certification section below, current BLS certification for all areas of nursing practice is required. Current certification may be required for the following areas of nursing practice:Emergency Care Center – ACLS, PALSIntensive Care Center & MSCC Lead – ACLS, PALSL&D – ACLS, NRP, - Experienced L&D nurses will obtain within 6 months and new L&D nurses will obtain at 1 year of experienceNICU – NRPPEDS – PALSPCC/PACU/ENDO – ACLS, PALSProcedural – ACLS Common Expectations: Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with hospital standards. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the assigned patient population. Assesses and interprets patient age specific data and provides appropriate, age specific treatment. Provides direct patient care to assigned patient age group(s). Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required. Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, inservice meetings, and workshops. Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
