About this role

As our ICU Float Pool RN, you will help clinical teams maintain high-quality patient care across our intensive care units so they can ensure positive outcomes and a healing environment for our most vulnerable patients. Every day you will assess, plan, and provide specialized nursing care to critically ill patients in a flexible, fast-paced environment. You will be expected to rapidly adapt to different ICU settings, monitor complex physiological changes, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and provide timely interventions to stabilize patients. To be successful in this role you will possess a current California registered nurse license and extensive critical care experience. You will demonstrate exceptional clinical judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to thrive in ambiguous or high-pressure situations. Your commitment to our mission of providing compassionate, excellent care will ensure that every patient in our float pool receives the same high standard of attention, regardless of their unit. Float RNs are expected to work in ICU, ED and Med/Surg/Tele units at Woodland Memorial Hospital and other Dignity Health hospitals within the Sacramento area.

Requirements

  • Minimum of an Associates Degree in Nursing
  • Active Registered Nurse license in the State of California
  • Minimum of two years of experience in the area of ICU nursing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification - American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification - American Heart Association

On your path

Emergency is a first-year unit lane. Fellowships take new grads. The windows matter.

Worth asking

The posting doesn’t answer these. Good ones to ask a recruiter or in the interview.

  • Can you walk me through the differentials?
  • What should I expect for shifts, weekly hours, weekend, holiday, call, and rotation?
  • What orientation, preceptor time, and ongoing unit support are included?
  • How are patient load and staffing support handled day to day?
