General

Duties

The Registered Nurse (RN) has the responsibility to provide nursing services to clients under the direction of the Director of Nursing, to ensure that clients are provided with nursing services in accordance with their needs. Provide medication administration training to employees per DHS guidelines.

Essential Functions

  • Administration of medications and/or treatments as ordered by physician. 2. Participate as needed in the planning and implementation of client programming. 3. Coordinate clients' nursing services needs with the other nurses. 4. Detect signs of illness, dysfunction, or maladaptive behavior that warrant medical, nursing, or psychosocial intervention. Coordinate with client's QIDP/Program Manager and Coordinators to ensure follow up. 5. Complete medical histories upon intake of all new clients. 6. Maintain medical information in client files in cooperation with QIDP/Program Managers. 7. Develop with the input of other team members, a self-medication training program for each client. 8. Provide first aid in the presence of accident or illness. 9. Complete Tuberculosis Mantoux testing/Hepatitis B shots (when necessary) for all CILA staff, and new CILA clients upon admission. 10. Order medical supplies for the CILA Program. 11. Monitor clients' progress with self-medication programs, through periodic visits to residences. 12. Respond to staff questions when paged. 13. Complete annual medical/health assessments and other required paperwork of assigned clients. 14. Transcribe physicians' orders and type dictation
