Living in Sitka, AK

Sitka sits on Baranof Island along Alaska's southeast coast, where the Pacific meets mountains thick with spruce and hemlock. This small island community blends Tlingit heritage with Russian colonial history. Nurses relocating here should expect island isolation, stunning scenery, and a tight-knit town connected to the outside world mainly by air and ferry.

Worth asking

The posting doesn’t answer these. Good ones to ask a recruiter or in the interview.

  • Can you walk me through the base pay range and differentials?
  • What should I expect for weekend, holiday, and rotation?
  • What orientation, preceptor time, and ongoing unit support are included?
  • How are patient load and staffing support handled day to day?
