  • Interpret applicable policies, procedures, and regulations for staff, physicians, patients, and visitors.
  • Promote collaboration, critical thinking, and effective problem-solving across departments.
  • Assist with orientation, education, mentoring, and development of nursing staff.
  • Communicate significant events, complaints, or operational concerns to the appropriate leadership team and intervene promptly when necessary.
  • Provide input regarding staff performance, competencies, and corrective action when appropriate.
  • Participate in quality and performance-improvement initiatives.
  • Help ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, accreditation, patient-safety, and healthcare regulatory requirements, including EMTALA requirements.
  • Perform additional supervisory and clinical-support responsibilities as assigned.

Worth asking

The posting doesn’t answer these. Good ones to ask a recruiter or in the interview.

  • What should I expect for shifts, weekly hours, call, and rotation?
  • What orientation, preceptor time, and ongoing unit support are included?
  • How are patient load, floating, and staffing support handled day to day?
  • Which physical workplace and unit is this role for?
