Position Summary
The RN Clinic, CV Surgery provides specialized nursing care to patients receiving pre- and post-operative cardiovascular surgery services within the outpatient clinic. This role supports surgeons and advanced practice providers by conducting detailed patient assessments, preparing patients for procedures, coordinating diagnostic testing, and monitoring recovery progress. Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments, review cardiac and surgical histories, obtain vital signs, and prepare patients for provider evaluations or pre-operative appointments. Assist with in-clinic procedures, medication administration, wound assessments, and post-operative care needs in accordance with established protocols. Coordinate and schedule diagnostic studies such as cardiac imaging, lab work, and pre-surgical testing to support timely surgical planning.
Provide individualized patient education on pre-operative preparation, recovery expectations, incision care, symptom monitoring, and follow-up instructions. Document assessments, interventions, and care plans accurately and promptly within the electronic health record. Collaborate with surgeons, advanced practice providers, and clinic staff to ensure smooth patient flow and consistent communication across cardiovascular surgery services.
