Valleyview Assisted Living is seeking an experienced and compassionate Lead Registered Nurse to join our leadership team. This is a unique opportunity to lead nursing services in a behavioral health-focused assisted living community with strong administrative support and a manageable on-call structure.
Our community specializes in behavioral health, medication management, mental health support, and social cueing. Rather than providing traditional bedside nursing, our nursing team focuses on clinical oversight, resident outcomes, staff development, medication management, and quality of life.

Position Summary
The Lead RN provides clinical leadership and oversight while ensuring residents receive high-quality, person-centered care. Working closely with the Administrator and leadership team, the Lead RN supports residents, families, and employees while helping create a positive, accountable, and collaborative workplace culture.
The ideal candidate is a confident communicator, practical problem-solver, and supportive mentor who enjoys developing employees, strengthening systems, and improving resident outcomes.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct resident assessments and ongoing clinical evaluations
- Develop, implement, and update individualized care and service plans
- Monitor changes in residents’ health and coordinate appropriate interventions
- Provide leadership, training, coaching, and support to caregiving staff
- Supervise nursing support staff and assist with performance management
- Oversee medication management systems and clinical documentation
- Coordinate care with physicians, pharmacies, therapists, and outside providers
- Assist with admissions, service planning, and resident transitions
- Ensure compliance with Minnesota regulations and community policies
- Support quality assurance and clinical improvement initiatives
- Promote resident dignity, engagement, independence, and quality of life
- Build positive relationships with residents, families, employees, and community partners
Schedule
- Full-time, 40 hours per week
- Five-day workweek
- Primarily daytime hours
- Phone-only weekday on-call responsibilities
- Weekend on-call coverage is handled by a dedicated RN team
- Limited after-hours interruptions compared with many traditional nursing management roles
Qualifications
- Current Minnesota Registered Nurse license in good standing
- Leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Experience in assisted living, behavioral health, geriatrics, or long-term care preferred
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to coach, mentor, and develop employees
- Sound clinical judgment and problem-solving skills
