Organization: PAMF-Sutter Maternity and Surg Ctr Position Overview: Accountable for the assessment, coordination delivery and evaluation of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care in an acute patient setting. Delivers holistic and individualized care to all patients in an assigned area. Develops, implements, and coordinates a plan of care that incorporates psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and life-style factors. Fosters and maintains collaborative relationships between patients, their family/support group, physicians, and other healthcare providers through timely and effective communications. Adheres to hospital polices, industry standards, best practices, and applicable laws and regulations to promote an optimal patient experience. Job Description: EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing OR RN license evidences completion of a RN program CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE: RN-Registered Nurse for the state where care is provided BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider DEPARTMENT REQUIRED CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE: ACLS-Advanced Cardiac Life Support required for departments requiring cardiac, telemetry monitoring, or OB monitoring as determined by the hiring manager. Hiring manager is responsible for submitting certification additions and renewals for inclusion in Workday PALS-Pediatric Advanced Life Support: Department: SMCS, Cath Lab within 6 months Department: Any employee caring for pediatric patients Department: SCH, within 6 months ENPC-Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course within 180 days if required by entity NIHSS-National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale: Any department caring for stroke patients Emergency Department within 90 days Intensive Care Unit (any cost center with ICU except NICU or PICU) within 90 days SCH-not required for any incumbents NRP-Neonatal Resuscitation Provider: Family Birthing Center within 30 days Labor & Delivery within 30 days Neonatal Intensive Care Unit within 60 days Nursery Obstetrics Postpartum Women's Health Center CPMC Women & Infants Unit SMCS High Risk Maternity within 30 days TNCC-Trauma Nursing Corp Course: Emergency Department within 180 days of hire if required by entity Trauma SRMC Trauma within 1 year of hire Universal Care Unit (UCU) within 6 months TNCC-Trauma Nursing Corp Course or TCAR-Trauma Care after Resuscitation: MMC ICU within 180 days MMC PACU within 180 days MMC Rapid Response Department within 90 days Fetal Monitoring Certificate: Labor & Delivery MPHS & SCH FBC-Labor/Delivery/Recovery/Postpartum within 90 days SMCS Labor & Delivery within 30 days SMCS High Risk Maternity within 30 days SMCS Antenatal Testing Unit within 30 days Department: Wound Care, CWOCN-Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse Oncology Nursing Certification (e.g., OCN, CPHON, CBCN, BMTCN, AOCNP) issued by ONCC, if required by department or entity, within one (1) year for RNs with one or more years of oncology practice prior to hire/transfer, or two (2) years for RNs new to oncology at the time of hire/transfer. Department, Oncology: RN new to oncology or less than one year of oncology experience, completion of ONS Foundations of Oncology Nursing Practice courses within 90 days Department, Oncology, Infusion, or any administering chemotherapy/immunotherapy for oncology: Obtain ONS Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Provider Card within 90 days (unless alternate timeframe determined by department or entity) Department: Lactation, CLC-Certified Lactation Consultant OR IBCLC-International Board Certified Lactation Consultant Department: Eden ICU, CCRN-Critical Care Registered Nurse PICC Insertion Certification if placing or repairing PICC Lines: Vascular Access Home Health Services Neonatal Transport Home Health Skilled Nursing Wound Care TYPICAL EXPERIENCE: 2 years of recent relevant experience. DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE: Department: SPA, 2 years RN with at least six months of prior experience in PACU, ED, or ICU in a multiple specialty acute care facility within the last two years Department: PACU, Surgical Care Annex, Presurgical Care Unit (ACU), 2 years RN with at least six months of prior bedside experience in PACU, ED, or ICU in a multiple specialty acute care facility within the last two years SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Demonstrated general knowledge and competence with regard to nursing theories, concepts and practices; medical terminology; anatomy; and physiology. Working knowledge of the healthcare industry, safety precaution policies, best practices regarding patient care and privacy, and changes in local/state/federal regulations. Possess written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people. Time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize patient care, assignments and work within standardized policies, procedures, and practices to achieve objectives and meet time sensitive activities. Basic knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Outlook). Work independently as well as be part of the team, while accomplishing multiple interventions in an ever-changing environment. Ability to communicate and engage team members, patients and families in a variety of stressful situations. Use existing procedures and critical thinking to identify and solve routine or complex problems. Ensure the privacy of each patient’s protected health information (PHI). Build collaborative relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives. Prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies, procedures, and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
