About this role

Provides patient-centered, recovery-oriented care for Veterans with mental health conditions. Utilizes therapeutic communication, de-escalation, and recovery-oriented language to foster safe, effective interactions. Coordinates care across outpatient and inpatient Mental Health services, ensuring continuity through warm hand-offs, interdisciplinary team meetings, and MH huddles. Develops and facilitates nurse-led psychoeducational groups. Educates Veterans, families, and significant others on mental health conditions, medications, and treatment plans. Identifies, reports, and assists with resolving safety concerns. Directs team response in psychiatric and medical emergencies. Demonstrates leadership, advanced judgment, and innovation in managing complex mental health care needs. Documents triage assessments, risk screens, measurement-based care tools, clinical reminders, and patient care plans per facility policy. This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program with award amounts up to $200,000.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted RN license in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia
  • English Language Proficiency
  • Graduate of a school of professional nursing accredited by ACEN or CCNE
  • Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing minimum
  • BSN, MSN, or Doctoral degree accepted for higher grade levels
  • Background/security investigation
  • Drug screening (urinalysis)
