  • Provide direct patient care by assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts.
  • Monitor and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems.
  • Support patients with specialized needs such as Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care, and behavioral health challenges with patience and understanding.
  • Assist healthcare professionals during medical procedures, including phlebotomy, catheter care, and aseptic techniques to maintain infection control standards.
  • Maintain a safe environment by adhering to HIPAA regulations, practicing proper medical documentation, and following strict infection control protocols.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in various settings such as hospitals (including ICU and trauma centers), nursing homes, assisted living facilities, outpatient clinics, and home care environments.
  • Engage in patient service activities that promote comfort and well-being while demonstrating physiology knowledge and medical terminology proficiency.

*Skills*

  • Proven experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities in settings like long-term care or community programs.
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation of patient information.
  • Knowledge of advanced clinical skills including ICU experience, Level I/II trauma center procedures, hospice care practices, and acute or sub-acute care protocols.
  • Ability to perform complex tasks such as medication administration, catheter care, vital sign measurement, and use of assistive devices like Hoyer lifts.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, physiology principles, and aseptic techniques essential for safe patient handling.
  • Experience working in specialized environments such as pediatric units (PICU), behavioral health units, or geriatrics with expertise in dementia and Alzheimer's care.
  • Excellent caregiving skills combined with the ability to work efficiently under pressure in urgent or emergency medicine situations like Level I trauma centers or emergency medicine units.
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient safety through adherence to HIPAA standards and meticulous medical records management.
