About Us Appalachian Community Services provides Mental Health, Behavioral Health, Substance Use, and Developmental Disability services to individuals, families, and communities within the seven western counties of North Carolina. We provide a wide range of walk-in, psychiatric, substance abuse, and crisis services to adults and children. About the Role We are seeking Registered Nurse's to provide the following services: This is a PRN position Ability to work with individuals who experience symptoms of severe and persistent mental illness and substance abuse/dependence, including consumers with a co-occurring developmental disability. Considerable knowledge and skill in the application of theory, practices, principles, and techniques of the nursing profession; ability to understand, interpret and relate oral and written instructions; ability to explain medical instructions in consumer and their families/ some ability to organize and supervise the work of other professional and nonprofessional employees; considerable knowledge of the area of work and medications; ability to gain the confidence of patients and to work effectively with them. Assist consumers in gaining skills to address problems. Ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team approach. Ability to set limits and maintain a helping role and to intervene appropriately to meet the needs of persons or families served. Compensation Competitive hourly pay aligned with your role, experience, and contribution, with opportunities for growth over time. Compensation: $42.62 - $54.73 Placement within the range is based on licensure level, education, and experience. What You Can Expect Provide compassionate nursing care for individuals living with severe mental illness, substance use disorders, and co-occurring developmental disabilities. Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to support consumer treatment plans and help achieve positive health outcomes. Educate and support consumers and families by explaining medications, treatment recommendations, and health-related instructions in a clear and understandable way. Help consumers build life and coping skills while maintaining professional boundaries and providing appropriate interventions based on individual needs. Responsibilities Assess and monitor consumer health needs, including mental health symptoms, medication effectiveness, and overall well-being. Administer and manage medications while ensuring accurate documentation and adherence to established nursing and organizational standards. Collaborate with treatment team members to develop, implement, and support individualized care plans for consumers. Provide crisis intervention and therapeutic support by responding appropriately to consumer needs, promoting stability, and connecting individuals with necessary resources and services.
