Registered Nurse (RN) Consultant – Assisted Living Position Summary The RN Consultant provides clinical leadership, regulatory guidance, and operational support to assisted living communities. Working collaboratively with executive leadership, administrators, and interdisciplinary teams, the RN Consultant ensures compliance with state regulations, promotes quality resident care, and supports staff education and clinical best practices. Essential Responsibilities Clinical Oversight • Evaluate resident care practices to ensure safe, high-quality clinical services. • Review resident assessments, service plans, medication management, and documentation for accuracy and regulatory compliance. • Assist communities in developing and implementing clinical policies and procedures. • Provide recommendations to improve resident outcomes and quality indicators. • Support infection prevention and control programs. Regulatory Compliance • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local assisted living regulations. • Conduct mock surveys and clinical audits to prepare communities for state inspections. • Develop corrective action plans following surveys or identified deficiencies. • Monitor implementation of plans of correction and provide ongoing follow-up. Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement • Analyze quality metrics, incident reports, falls, medication errors, and infection trends. • Lead Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives. • Recommend evidence-based practices to improve clinical outcomes and resident satisfaction. Staff Education & Leadership • Provide education and training to nursing staff, administrators, and caregivers. • Mentor Directors of Nursing, Wellness Directors, and clinical leadership teams. • Assist with orientation and competency validation for clinical staff. • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Operational Support • Assist communities experiencing leadership transitions or clinical challenges. • Collaborate with executive leadership on strategic clinical initiatives. • Participate in policy development and organizational clinical standards. • Travel to assigned communities as needed. Qualifications • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing. • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred. • Minimum of five years of nursing experience. • At least three years of leadership experience in assisted living, senior housing, long-term care, or post-acute care. • Strong knowledge of assisted living regulations and survey processes. • Experience with quality improvement, infection prevention, and risk management. • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills. • Ability to work independently and manage multiple facilities simultaneously. • Proficiency with electronic health records and Microsoft Office. Preferred Qualifications • Multi-site consulting or regional clinical experience. • Experience with memory care programs. • Certification in infection prevention, gerontology, or quality improvement is a plus. Physical Requirements • Ability to travel frequently to assigned communities. • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally. • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and sit for extended periods.
