Overview: RN Neuro-Ortho UnityPoint - St. Luke's - Sioux City Downtown Hours: Full Time, 36 hours per week Schedule: Self-scheduling • 12 hour shifts 7-7, rotating weekends and holidays The RN is responsible for coordinating the care of patients and families that they care for utilizing the nursing process, and the skills that are part of their functions as a registered nurse. Summary of duties include: utilizing nursing knowledge for critical thinking, planning of care, evaluating response to care and planning for the needs of the patient and family. Responsibilities: Delegates nursing care activities and monitors care given by appropriate care team members in accordance with patient needs, and the team member’s professional capabilities and qualifications. Supports use of Evidenced Based Practice and incorporates best practices into daily care routine. Assists in creating a positive work environment by mentoring of staff/students, and working with team members to develop and facilitate initiatives to strive for positive outcomes in quality and care of patients. Effectively communicates with all team members, physicians, ancillary staff and all customers. Complies with all policies and procedures, and guides team members with compliance. Compiles with all safety goals, infection prevention and risk management policies and procedures. Qualifications: Education: Successfully completed an accredited nursing program required. All newly licensed RNs with less than six (6) months of acute RN experience at the time of application are required to successfully complete the Nurse Residency program BSN Preferred Experience: n/a License(s)/Certification(s): Valid Nursing License with authorization to work in Iowa required Basic Certified Life Support certification required Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within 6 months from date of hire required. Must obtain NIHSS education within 90 days of hire and maintain every two years thereafter. Completion of six hours of stroke education prior to the end of orientation and annually required. Specialty certification is preferred.
