About this role
Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self. Attends education programs based on identified learning needs. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to implement physician order, nursing intervention, and procedures in caring for patient. Identifies expected patient outcomes. Seeks guidance as needed in revision of plan of care. Participates in discussion with members of the interdisciplinary team in evaluation of patient care. Demonstrates competence in care of patients with complex problems, including population-appropriate physical, educational and safety aspects of care. Utilizes healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies and procedures in delivery of care. Assess patients upon admission addressing biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, educational, discharge planning factors. Assess and reassess patients on an ongoing basis and identifying patient needs/problems.

Demonstrates the ability to teach and provide information to patients during hospitalization in a manner that supports patient apprehension and promotes patient compliance. Demonstrates knowledge of hospital/nursing service policies and procedures by performing procedures/treatment to patients in a safe, effective manner. Utilizes supplies and equipment in an efficient and cost effective manner. Serves as a patient advocate to ensure adequate and appropriate care. Implements the nursing process to provide quality care based on patient needs. Participates in unit, department and/or organizational improvement activities which contribute to positive outcomes. Ability to administer medications in accordance with hospital policy and procedure.

Requirements
- Current North Carolina RN license
- Graduation from accredited School of Nursing
- Current North Carolina RN license
- Current ONCC Certification
- BLS Certification on hire
- ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification within 90 days
- NCI within 60 days
- Prior Oncology or chemotherapy experience preferred, but not required
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
